The AFT-IMT machine produces anchorless toothbrushes by means of an "in-mould" process. It is the world's first commercially available machine for this purpose.
This machine combines the well-known and tested AFT technology with in-mould techniques :
- in a first step, the pre-cut filaments are end-rounded in the machine
- the tufts are picked by means of conventional technology
- the tuft configuration is formed, both for tuft shapes, angles and "trim profile" and fixed in their positions
- these prepared tufts are then automatically transferred to a mould to be overmoulded
Advantages of this technology are :
- revolutionary options for brush design ( tuft shape, tuft angle, "trim" profile, ... )
- reduced brush head section and thickness
- integrated all in-line production without intermediate steps for a streamlined production
- better product quality because of filament end-rounding in ideal conditions for all tufts
- better product hygiene because of reduced product handling and end-rounding before tufting
- reduced machine maintenance because of elimination of all profiled cutting equipment as well as spreading systems
- simple and quick change-overs
